Unfortunately it won't ship until 20th July, so you'll have to wait for the August Single In Challenge.
I'm going wide for July.
Thats what I said to the missus when I took the second pie!

Yeah, it didn't end well

In with the Super-Multi-Coated Macro-Takumar 4/100. Lots of lovely summer detail out there.

Cleaned up my Flickr account to make room for the last two months of M primes. It was quite easy. I took out only shots I was never completely happy with

I am quietly stunned by the DFA* zoom. It's like the ultimate point and shoot, pick a subject, focus on it reasonably well, keep the shutter speed up (if handheld) and it just monsters everything else. Deeply impressive. Every image I take knocks a 100grms off the weight. At the same time, I feel it sighing and metaphorically shrugging it's shoulders and looking up to the lens gods and going "Why me... What did I do to deserve this?"
It is easily the most demanding lens I have technique wise and I don't know if I'd feel comfortable wandering around town with it (look at that idiot with a big lens type uncomfortable) but weight, size, technique demands are all forgotten as soon as you open up its images. The third of the DFA* (85/1.4) arrived yesterday but was intercepted by the wife and hidden on me after reading me the riot act and doing the unboxing herself . I haven't gone looking for it, says it all.

There is only one DFA* zoom - the 70-200/2.8

Maximus got Explored. Jen the wife had been going through my recent Flickr set as I had mentioned that I'd be doing the Singles-in stuff to get me back into the game, quote, "x, y, & z are better I think but you know Max will get that explorer thing, people like animals, and cat people really like cat pictures" she was right of course as wives invariably are
I'm moreso a dog person as I'm slightly allergic to cats and I'm missing Max's opposite Rufus who passed away a few months back.

Taken with my first ever prime (a Chinon 50/1.9) on a K20D, which I still have - fantastic glass and sensors are all well and good, but capturing memories or monents in time is what this is really all about.

Thanks for the reminder, I need to cull out my images from June that in all honesty are just not very good.

I dont understand the Explore AI at all, it's a strange algorithm at best.

From my own shots, its never the images I would choose that get explored. I had Holga monochrome snapshots explored hahaha.

Zone Focusing is a lost art, I am well out of practice myself. "f8 and be there!"

Nothing like a handful of Hyperfocal Distance in the pocket when heading out for pictures

I like the colour coding on some pentax lenses making it easy to line up the hyperfocal distances, thanks for the reminder

We're all very quiet this month, this has dropped to the 2nd page. How's everybody getting on? 3 day week for me so I'm heading to a place called Kinsale to have a coffee and lens chat with a friend who is heading back to the States. We setup a photo club together years ago in Kinsale which is still going strong. I stopped attending regularly when we had some members join that were very good but more into the club competition scene, well one was more Internationally recognised. I was the crazy Pentax guy who used to have a new lens every month or so , Last time I popped in was to give a 30 min spiel on my lens journey and I think I rabbited on for nearly an hour. Anyways the buddy wants to show me his Canon R something or other and I'll be showing the DFA*s I have access to. So coffee at 11, 30mins banter while he gives me grief over camera weight and I'll threaten to pulverised his little mirrorless thing with the K-1 and arca mount and we'll have a wander and maybe get a few shots. Home for lunch and a bit of PP.
