Well the advantage (scratch advantage, use familiarity instead) I was thinking was the Ricoh Your Best Photo+ thing that they have going on. My Irish green will be more comfortable for a Japanese viewer. At the same time familiarity breeds contempt so 6 of one, half dozen of the other. It's become my late new years resolution to get one of my images in

I'll argue that most HDR type over saturated mega detailed forest shots out there have very little in common with what my eyes actually see in a forest. Same goes for the utlra sharp 4K "travel" videos on youtube.

Maybe I need new glasses? I only had glasses for a few years tho...

Also, the only green that matters is Fuji green. And reds...maybe..

Can anyone grant me access to the Single Challenges group on Flickr? I put in a request through Flickr yesterday and it's in pending state. Flickr username is dalinlaqua

I've sent you an invite to the flickr group.

Let me know if that does or doesn't do it.

Nothing so far, no indication of an invite in email or through flickr.

Thanks for trying.

How's everybody getting on?

less good than I was a few minutes ago, before the reply I was typing disappeared >_<

However, in the main, things are very good. Photographically, I'm actually enjoying the Sigma. O_O I've moaned about the AF before (slow, tendency to hunt); the only times that seems to have come up so far this month are (1) focusing in low light on flat painted walls inside, and interestingly (2) using live-view.

I've been pretty happy with the subjects and images I've 'seen', and by and large how I've shot them. In PP I'm enjoying having a tutu with the colour curves to mess with the feel of images. Quite fun. I'm also learning to tone down the detail aspects of the processing; some of my last few months' images are rather gritty/sandy- I think from too-vigorous application of a couple of sliders.

Outside photography... learnt some cool new (to me) magic, improving my performance of some older tricks. Steadily improving my karate. Renovating, so the house is in a whirl. Enjoying being back in the public health system, and about to have the accountant tidy up the tax so I can stop ever thinking about financial crap again (activity statements, and quarterly this, and monthly that, and stuff that makes my eyes glaze over and me fall down dead). xP

So ... all good here.

Hmm, still nothing in Flickr or in email notifying me of the invite. Double checked my settings and I do have notifications enabled, and my email address is correct. Call me stumped.

Hi everyone

Summer is busy time in Finland, as we need to do all living in 3 months, before we lock down for winter

To my surprice I found myself on holiday this week, so try to stay away from computer as much as possible. I try to get more involved next week when back in work, but does feel crowded with all my hobbies and friends.
