Urk - most unpleasant. Hope it resolves promptly

Nope, Hazel's been as good as gold since lockdown introduced. Jen reckons Max, she thinks I'm allergic to him. Popped into the doctor today and he reckoned some 'allergic conjunctivitis' but also a sty or what looks to be a sty in my main camera eye (my left). So cream and antibiotic for a week, if it doesn't clear up then an eye specialist - he did go into great detail about how flexible an eyelid is to a specialist for a better look. Pain in the eye huh. So apologies all for dropping out. Annoyed with myself. Now to see if I can use sympathy vote to free my 85

Me too. 8)

And it doesn’t appear too hard to set it hyperfocal (I thought about and tried just now) - as it has a distance scale.

Although, that’s only partially helpful, as it goes from 4 m to infinity, and the hyperfocal distance at f/11 is 5 m 72 cm xP Still, slide it a smidge past 4, set it back to AF, don’t touch the AF button - seems we’re pretty good.

Recent days have been crazy-busy for me and the closer I am to the holiday the more work I'm getting. Actually, I did take a shot yesterday and today but don't even have the time to do pp, so I think I'll consider the month done and do a quick wrap-up.
Thanks for all the comments, especially those with constructive critique and/or suggestions on what to improve. The Pentax-A 70-210/4 proved to be very versatile and capable lens. I think it's my discovery of the year - I didn't expect it to be that good. I virtually had no reservations to the IQ, except for the F/32 shot Wide open it is decent to say the least. Some of my favs:

You've got this all wrong. The tried and tested cure is a cotton wool pad soaked in boiling water and applied to the sty on the back of a wooden spoon - works every time.

Talking of Planning PART 2

Well I've finished
My final shot for the 31st has been 300 Years in the making so I have known for a loooooonnnnnnnnnnng time what it would be. My write up is done and will be posted tomorrow.
As ever it has been an absolute pleasure taking part in the SIC ; there have been some truly exquisite images on display this month.
I have managed four months in a row now which is a personal record but I will not be taking part in August. I have a lot going on at home and a couple of photography projects that need both finishing and starting - but I will be back soon and will keep one beady eye on Augusts contributions

A great lens
Eeeckkkkk please, not boiling water on eye, perhaps placing it under the eye and letting the steam from the dipped swab waft up to the eyelid but boiling water on a cotton swab.... oh my.
Interested to see the 300 year in the making plan

Well another month over and I couldn't be more impressed with the 67 M* 400mm f4 ED(IF). I have used it on the 67II and had excellent results on film, however I thought the K1 and digital sensor might be a little too challenging for this old workhorse. Nope , everything I threw at it turned out fine, the only limitation was me. I tried shooting into the sun, macro, teleconverters. Not a single time was I able to notice any issues with the image quality. Mounted on the K1 with the original Pentax 67 K adapter, it was easy to go from landscape to portrait orientation with the turn of a small locking screw. The lens has a slot for a polariser in the body of the lens and a little wheel lets you turn the polariser without taking it out of the lens, very handy. Not quite as handy was the weight of the combo, basically it was always used on either a sturdy Manfrotto monopod or tripod. The lens has a tripod foot that balances nicely on the monopod and the K1 with battery grip was easy to work with. Compared to the 150-450 you miss out on autofocus, however the image quality is better than the modern zoom at the long end. Paired with the AF 1.7x converter, it makes a pretty good wildlife combo for chasing little critters. Very happy with the lens I chose and here are my favourite shots from the month

July Single In Challenge 2020 with K1ii & M200/4

An other lens done with one more to go. M200 ain't most famous Pentax lens out there. Sharpness is not on the same level with M150 or M*300 and there are sharper 200mm lenses available also. But it's cheap and quite compact, so if you are looking for long tele for occasional use it's a valid possibility. My main argument for this lens is wide open rendering. It's softer than stopped down, but increase in bokeh quality is well worth it. I shot wide open most of the month and when I took shots in different apertures, I usually liked wide open best. 200mm gives you nice tele compression and separation. On negative side there is also CA. Purple and green fringing is serious issue and I got few shots so ruined that I couldn't rescue them in PP. Lens seems to work best on quite shots distances. Therefore 2m MFD could be shorter. As typical when shooting long lenses in SIC I did stitches occasionally to gain wider view. At best these yielded quite sweet results.

My precence in challenge was lacking. I was in complete summer mode and full of activity big part of the month, so my commenting and even viewing of others work wasn't very active. I tried to look everything thru afterwards, but might have missed some. Sorry about that. I kept on shooting daily and posted mostly on time, so I did something right. Thanks for all the comments I got

M28/2.8 in August.

Wide open:

I just ordered S type focusing screen. I've been putting it off for long enough wondering if it's worth the trouble and money. It should be here before the end of the month.
Didn't make it. Should be here on monday. Of course I'll be out of town then, so in my hands next weekend maybe.
