Great lesser known lens, but there is a thread on PF devoted to it. I really appreciate my copy.

I still love the F series "star wars" design aesthetic , yes I know I have problems

I agree, they look pretty cool. But I might be biased as I have 4 of the F zooms and a couple of primes.

The F series has some really interesting lenses. I still have the 85 Soft, and in the past have owned the excellent 17~28/3.5-4.5 fisheye zoom and 28/2.8 pancake prime.

Their aesthetics are an acquired taste to be sure, but their qualities are undeniable.
If forced to only shoot F lenses for the rest of my life, I'd be pretty ok with that.

Hi guys,
I noticed it's a way too long time since I was participating in this challenge. And then figured out that I didn't re-introduce myself here.

So, this new fancy 85mm DFA lens was available at my local shop (they actually had 2 copies on the shelf!); summer time office-wise gives more relaxations, so I decided to give this game another shot.

As the lens is a new one to the community, I will be using the explanation 'technical evaluation' when I'm struggling with the creative content. Ok?

Welcome back! My copy of the DFA*85 is still making its way to me, so I'll be watching your input (and Gary's) with great interest.

Based on Gary’s so far and ppohja’s portrait yesterday, I bet you are getting pretty eager lol. It does look to be incredible but as I am unlikely to hold one let alone own one in my lifetime, I will just have to enjoy it vicariously

Ooh nice, I have that and will single with it eventually. Did you get the hood case and cap with it? I love the silver/black lens body

a handy link for you
Pentax Auto Takumar 35mm F2.3 Loose barrel Fix - PentaxForums.com
no hood and case but it came with both caps. I am now using a few step up rings for a hood (as I found it vignettes pretty fast when I adapt a wide angle hood to it)

Although I've found zero time to upload my photos for the SIC so far, I'm actually going with the SMC-M 35mm f/2.8. Using the Takumar 35mm f/3.5 really opened my eyes to the world of semi-wide lenses such as these.

I have ordered one of these in 62mm which according to one of the reviews on PentaxForums for the lens works well Nikon HN-22 Lens Hood
It feels odd ordering Nikon items, but if it works well I will let you know

Hah! So it went from Paul to you after its aperture control block failure?
Small world....

It's a cool little camera.

aye - landed here and became the K-S1a, after I modified the mount (which is why I'm waiting on a Nikkor)....

it is a neat, tiny little camera with a really nice sensor...

Welp... I had a plan for yesterday: I was going for the non illusion, given that it was full moon, and IBM using a big tele for the month

Not leaving the sd card at home in my Mac would’ve helped

Some time ago I started using a cable to transfer the data from the camera to a PC, so I don't have to take the SD card out (no WiFi in my K50). It is a bit slower (the transfer) but helps when it comes to leaving the SD card at home
