Originally posted by BigDave You should check out the gun shows in your area. Many times they have sellers/dealers that offer Flint and Cap Lock guns, sometimes antiques. Be careful of Damascus barrels though if you want to shoot it! Make sure there is no pitting in or outside the barrel and have a good gun smith take a look at it! And you don't need to go through an FFL tp buy one (yet)!
I have a cap and ball 1860 Army revolver, and a TC Hawken .50 cal which currently needs to have the barrel replaced, as I bought it off someone who stored it loaded after a misfire for years, and the extreme inside end of the barrel is heavily corroded. It's also a percussion. I'm a lefty, so I would really need to find a left-handed flintlock, which are more rare, as I don't think I could avoid flinching if the lock was that close to my face. One day...
