Local dealer had put the one DFA*85/1.4 on the shelf on discount 1699€. I placed my order as soon as I noticed it and had verified that offer is for a single piece only. I go collect it from the store on Monday when they open the doors next time. I had planned to put it on my credit card in January anyway, so came at perfect time and 300€ off is always welcome

I try to be patient and save it to February and go with F50/1.7 in January as planned.

I just finished the December SiC with my newly-purchased GR3. What a great camera. Have fun and I'm looking forward to seeing your outcome.

I think too many people think of the "kit" lens as a poor option, but I really liked my 18-55, it gave good results, and was WR. I only got rid of my copy when I purchased a used 18-135mm WR.
I totally agree. Mine gives very good results imho, very nice color and contrast. Kit lenses are great starters. I started photography with film and a compact, 35mm plastic lens etc. Took it seriously with a nifty fifty. When I used the 18-55 it made me very happy, covering most of my themes.

I miss my 18-55. It went with my K30. I checked out eBay for another copy. The price they go for is really high. Its a good little lens and mine, being wr was very handy

I'm in. Going to explore a non-Pentax lens with the KP in January - a Tamron Adaptall 2 28-200 f/3.8-5.6 Aspherical (71A). It was made from 1994-1998. Here's the PF review page: Tamron Adaptall-2 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 Aspherical (71A/171A) Lens Reviews - Tamron Adaptall Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

Good for you!
I'm hoping to sell one of the toys from another hobby and put that money towards this lens as well.

I miss my K5 IIs now and again, even to the point of looking for another body... Certainly a bargain now adays.... No help for your "crossroads", just chipping in to say you're not alone.

Hi Folks! Happy New Year!

Pun intended?

I've already banned myself from gym to avoid gaining more muscle. I have more than optimum for windsurfing. I think I'll be ok with this lens.

Last year petered out but in January should have more time. I'm in with the Takumar 58mm 1:2.4 m37 version (same as the m42 just different thread and body)

The 18-55mm is a great lens, I gave mine to my daughter when I gave her a K-30 body and purchased a used 18-135mm WR for myself as walk-around lens on my K-5. The 18-135mm is a bit better for having longer range in an equally compact, durable WR form.

Improved upper body strength pays off in improved abilities to bring a long lens to bear on a subject and to hold a stable position. The same is true for marksmanship. I noticed the payoff for myself while lugging around the 300mm f4 in December.

I wish I had taken up windsurfing when I lived near the ocean, it does look like fun. I took up SCUBA diving instead.

Single in January 2021

Hmmmm ... I has had a thought.

A possibly foolish thought - but...

21 for 21?

As in: HD Pentax-DA 21mm f3.2 ED AL Limited for 2021.

As in: all year with this one lens.

Or am I mad?

Or can it be both?

I started similar with the Plastic Fantastic a few years ago. I got through till late July, but it was falling away from photography in toto that put the kibosh on the project, rather than any problem sticking with the lens.

So I wonders...

Splendid idea! I can think of few lenses which would be as pleasurable for such a challenge.

I suspect you *are* in love

If the DFA 21/?? Limited is released soon I would tempted to join you....
