end of the month review, Irix 150mm f2.8 Macro:

what a hugely-capable lens, this 150mm monstrosity....

other than its size/weight, there is absolutely no downside to this lens - even the manual focus is a plus, given the huge focus ring grip with its distinctive ridge (you'll never lose this grip)....

let's get the elephant out of the room right off - this lens is big and heavy:



that's the D FA 100/2.8 WR Macro next to it....


so - if you can live with that, there's no reason to not have one...

everything you can think of: color, clarity, bokeh, sharpness.... it is all here in spades...

it's even WR for those days in the snow or rain....

I decided on the tamrom 17-35, and I'm leaving it at 17mm for the challenge. I will be taking three large paces way outside my comfort zone with this.

End of the month review for the me and the GR? This camera has spoiled me an opened my eyes to a new way of taking pictures. I have absolutely loved learning this camera over the month. There is much more that I haven't tried yet so it will carry on into February. The plan right now is to use it for all of 2021 so the will give me plenty of opportunity to learn it inside and out. There were many I liked but these three were the most fun to make.

I'm not inclined to do lens reviews because the exercise of "single in" has always been one of learning for me. My first challenge was back in July of 2011. I shot the SMC Pentax A 100mm ƒ4.0 Macro for a month in April 2012.

Why do I single in?

-personal stories from abroad
-virtual site/sight seeing
-exposure to new techniques or thoughts on photography
-a genuine curiosity
-discipline

So while maybe I might not of have added constructively in some comments over the month, I've enjoyed the bits of your self that you've chosen to share. And I know, you may have seen a bit too much of me personally, I hope you will recover from the grotesque subject matter, and enjoyed a bit of the chatter we've shared. After all during a pandemic lockdown, it's tough to find a variety of humans to fill the frame with.

Nice GR pictures, once I have the money, I intend to get a GRIII. Point and shoot form factor with a DSLR size sensor? I'm ready for a change.
