I have bought 2 M42 lenses based on their performance seen here to upgrade the weaknesses of my M series lenses. Tak 200/3.5 to own a sharper 200 and this macro to get 1:1 magnification.

Yep yep yep.

DA21 continues, and I continue to feel the love - just more taking than processing, and more of that than actually uploading and posting.

Another catch-up is due...

I'll be playing with the Tair 11A 135/2.8. I'm looking forward to seeing how it compares with the Jupiter 11A 135/4 (20 iris blades vs 12 and f2.8 vs f4)

In again for March with an unknown lens at this point. This is just too addicting!

I stopped at my local camera store to buy some Cokin ND filters, and they had an M42 Takumar 105mm lens, and maybe I should not have made an impulse by, but I did. Anyone have experience with this lens?

I had one for awhile - loved the lens, hated the MFD:

I'm feeling a lot of FA Limited love at the moment, what with the new HD versions about to hit the market.
It might be nice to compare Dave's crop shots with mine on full frame - so it's the FA31 for me too.
Well I've been MIA since Monovember with the A28 and I really liked the FL. I've never singled the FA31 (or the FA43 for that matter) so maybe I could join for a threesome
Much duller here in the UK but we do have the promise of a drier week ahead.

Bit of quandary at the moment - so many lenses seem to have cropped up recently at very reasonable prices that I now have "too many to use"
Picked up an M20 with hood just to compare with my A20 (which I really like so I don't know if the M20 will be able to match it) but SRS Microsystems had a Pentax-Ricoh-reconditioned DA* 11-18 with 2 year warranty @ £400 less than normal selling price - 30 odd percent off - what's not to like

All that aside, might have to do the dirty and actually sell some of the less-often used lenses soon

I sold my Tak 105 - very nice lens I thought but I prefer the Tak 120 - just a FL thing I think.

A threesome of 31's = awesome.

SCORE!! It's a fantastic lens.

I too am experiencing a bit of the "too many lenses to use" syndrome. I've come to the realisation that I'm just too lazy to muck around with old manual lenses. There are also some big, newer lenses which might get the chop....

That was what lay behind me getting the DA50 (plastic fantastic #2): I really like my M50, but no auto focus or exposure was just beginning to get annoying.

Yes - very impressed with the 11-18 so far. TBH it may well reverse things for me so that my wide options are on APSC. Seems wrong.... but.

Manual lenses - Definitely going to sell some but then I pick the Taks up and think .... no; A series? Who knows but I'll probably hang on to my old faithfuls of A16/20/24/50(1.2)/135 and 200 - they slow me down, make me think and are enjoyable But then... I could just put the FA31/43/77 in MF

Good job we've got the SIC

Yeah. I can't see a need for my DFA15-30 or FA20 any more. And when the new DA*16-50 comes out I'll have to decide about the DFA24-70 as well.

Yes my interest is definitely piqued by this one; PLM....
Thing is I've always liked my 20-40 so it will have to be good to replace that. But then its a "24-70" which is a useful range without doubt for a walkround - could always learn to use both

I have feelings about manual lenses opposite to those you both express. I feel like I've been to quick to take a picture using auto-lenses, but just this morning I was using this manual Takumar 105mm and blowing test shots because I'd forgotten to consider shutter or aperture. If I spend some time slowing down to redevelop the habits I had using only manual lenses etc, maybe I'll be more inspired to create some truly worthwhile images.
