Any idea who that is?

There have been multiple iterations thus far and I cannot determine who is the owner of this lens.

Alternatively, I can send it to you if you'd like.

PM your address and I can get it on it's way!
I'd like to get one last shot with it though with the changing of seasons starting to show it's face around here.
I'll go look through the thread, I have absolutely no idea.
Take all the time you need, I'll PM you the address and then just post it when you feel like it.
Unless I get a 50 of my own in the mean time, in that case someone else can get it

EDIT: I believe the owner of the current lens is @drivingback. (see page 72)

Hi,

I haven't updated you folks in quite a while, been busy with work and the Chinese New Year here in Singapore. I don't know how to break the news to you all. I got good news and bad news, I finally bought the lens last Feb. 2 but the bad news is as I was inspecting the lens today, I saw some fungus growth on the side, this is my first time to actually see fungus lens. I feel stupid really! The lens seller would not reply to my messages so I do not see the lens getting replaced or my money coming back. When we were dealing at Orchard the lens looked OK with the UV filter and the barrel also looks nice, so we just made a quick deal after some test shots with my K-30.

The fungus doesn't seem to affect IQ but at some point when it multiplies I know it will. And I don't want to send a lens with a defect to the project. What to do with the lens? Do we continue with the one I currently have? Frankly, I do not have money to shell out to buy another lens. I also recently got a KX film body, so I spent any spare money I have.

Photos of the lens are here:

It consists of a lens cap, UV filter, rear cap and the lens itself.

Back of the lens:

The ff. is shot with an M 50mm f1.7 using a close up filter, see the fungus starting to grow at the side:

I might seem like I am making excuses or making up stories, but I am not. I really want the project to go on, but I am really lost right now. After 2 mishaps with the lens, one getting lost in the Philippine Post Office and now a defective replacement, I feel like a jinx to the project.

Regards,

Chester

haha thanks for searching!
Yeah PM your address and I'll ship it by the end of this week...

Maybe 50 just isn't for me.
I loved my DA35 macro. Sort of regret getting rid of it!
And the gap between that lens and my DA70 isn't felt much.

I've always been able to get closer and step back a bit to frame my shot.
The 50 just feels a bit long for me?

Maybe it was a standard for full-frame. But the 35mm feels more standard for me now.
In fact, I'd like to get a 21mm as well.

Yea, the ol' LBA. I'd love a 21mm, used to lust after the 35 macro but I didn't really click with the 35 2.4 so at least *that* has calmed down a bit
Hmm, maybe the 40mm... Aaand so it begins

50mm feels great on my Praktica but like you said, it's a bit too in-betweeny on APSC. Still, I'd like to try it out with the macro tubes.

Hope you have better luck than I do!

I'll post my final picture on this thread before shipping out this week...

haha right...

If only my wife enjoyed photography as much as I do!
Then I could "buy her" the lenses I wanted and just use them as I wish...

Even better, you could buy one for you and one for her, because, you know, equal value gifts

I actually initially bought my camera and da35macro for product photography... She's an artist and needed production photos of her work.

She got busy with her job and stopped painting for a while so I picked up interest in wildlife photography.

I was thinking, maybe if I could get some cool shots for her replicate in paint, I could justify a new "production" lens like the da35Macro again...

Worth a try! lol

Completely forgot...
Buying a house and renovating certainly can scramble time.

I will ship it out to him tomorrow morning.
We already spoke and I have his address.

Thanks for the reminder!

Well, this was a nice surprise. Apparently I didn't set notifications for this thread when I resubscribed, and today I got a letter from our customs office for a "camera lens" from the USA. Of course, they are closed for the weekend, so I'll update next week.

The lens is here. Apparently the folks at customs are human and can read the forum, so I only had to pay the processing cost and not what the lens was insured for. I will use it for a bit then send it on to whoever wants to be next!

Thanks!

I have taken it out since, but sadly nothing worth posting. Maybe this week, I have an outing prepared.
