Halfway through the year; halfway through my 21 in 21 challenge. So far not regretting it. At. All.

Iím trying currently to work out what characteristics of a scene/lighting/distance/field/coloursÖ lead to the lensí particular special nature showing through. Canít say that Iíve figured it yet. Some shots are just really nice, but some have a je ne sais quoi that I love, and that seems to be this lens. I really want to figure out what brings that character out, so I can shoot for it more mindfully.

Whether or not thatís realistic remains to be seen.

Awesome lens; everyone should have it (at least APS-C shooters)

My faves from June:

Sunrise through the glass by -Occasionally Focused-

That tree again by -Occasionally Focused-

Sunset over Blacktown by -Occasionally Focused-

Warrick Lane Precinct by -Occasionally Focused-

Locked-out by -Occasionally Focused-

The trolleys kind of show what I was blethering about. And it's a something that makes me head towards trying for a film-like curve and toning when I process. (Probably nothing apparent, I bet... xP )

Onward to July - still with the HD DA 21 firmly attached|.

There is a lot of merit in using one lens every day for a year. When I was young and couldn't afford much in the way of gear, I only had a K1000 and 50mm lens, but I became so so familiar with both in all sorts of condition that I seldom had to check settings, and I became to sued to composing with that FOV that my images improved.

@Tsuken These are beeeeeeooooooootiful. I think wide is easy to live with but if I was going to do a whole year it would be with a 35mm, either my limited or my FA f2. I love 35mm.

If you don't own a DA 21mm, I encourage you to try one out, it's a very easy lesson to fall in love with and use for extended periods.

Oooh I have the 21mm, and it is a delight. In fact all the limiteds are. 21, 35 & 70 was my travel kit with the 21 doing interiors. I have sic'd it and loved it but 35mm is, for me, most natural

ah, the full-frame conspiracy rears its head....

I wondered how long it would take before this would be suggested....
I'm barging into the conversation and have to agree with both you and Sandy. I liked the lens but struggled with it on APSC but having bought the K-1 there is nothing this lens cannot do with the exception of telephoto (alright you have to reverse it or add a raynox for macro). And the images are just gorgeous.
I think it must be a FOV thing on APSC because I'm probably going to sell my FA77 - give me the 100mm focal length every time on FF

it probably is just an FOV thing; I'm not much for 50mm or 28mm lenses, but not bright enough to stop buying them....

I started a 365 with the 35mm plastic fantastic in 2017, but fell off it (and photography, to an extent - though I kept up a daily shot) somewhere in July, I think

Maybe revisiting that should be my next thing

Or the DA50 plastic also-fantasticÖ
