Right, to judging.
Kerrowdown: Straight in with a blinder, love the atmosphere you have created here.
Michail_P: Super vivid greens and a nice balanced composition keeping some of the mystery of the darker areas up top.
LittleGidding: Really like the crop you have chosen for your version, a very natural looking scene.
stevejo: Mist would certainly enhance a scene like this, a bit sparse for my tastes in this instance, I like a good thick fog.
noelcmn: Superb, the scary owl works particularly well in the contrasty black and white version.
mariwalt: The colour balance in this one has certainly changed the feel of the image, nicely done.
astonm: Love it! I must confess on first viewing I only saw the squirrel, it wasn't till later I saw something lurking back there. A perfect addition to the dark mysterious woods.
jmacias: I appreciate the close in crop on your version and trying to find something different from the others. Nice one.
xs400: The brightness has lifted it from a dark ominous scene to something much more cheery, very vivid colour as well.
tuggie76: Nicely found, I can't un see him now!
So first off thanks to everyone for your entries, you haven't made picking a favourite easy. I would say Kerrowdown's version is my favourite of the vanilla ones, but astonm has done a cracking job adding a few extras, also Noel's scary owl version deserves a nod.
I think I have to give it to astonm, it just fits so well. Close runner up is Kerrowdown.
Congrats to
astonm and over to you for the next round.
For some context and to show you what I ended up with at this location. After taking a few close ups, which this is one, I stepped back and stitched a few shots together to get this wider view of the area.
