I really like the pond with the spanish moss and the light house images.

Well done!

Here's my first five, from the first part of 2021, I probably was able to take more in the first couple months of the year before i started working part time. I was doing a lot of hiking through Holly Shelter, this first one is from longleaf pine savanna in Holly Shelter:

This one is from another part of Holly Shelter:

From a foggy February morning on Topsail Island at the edge of the marsh, the sun is burning through the fog

A sunrise over the Atlantic:

Another from Holly Shelter, looking through the savanna into fog dispersed sunlight with the KP and DA*300

Compelling use of multiple exposure (or is that a single long exposure with the model in motion?)
Thanks. It's a single exposure with the model moving, we were trying for something different but we couldn't quite get it so in the end we got this instead.

That's such a nice set. I can't even decide which one I like most.

What I like about this thread is that, unlike single images, you get to see somebody's style of shooting and processing and that for me, has a greater impact and is far more interesting. It's certainly made me think a lot more about how I 'group' my own images and added a bit more focus.

Here's my second group before I forget, it's very difficult to pick these, it might be a different group tomorrow.

The South end of Topsail Island, by the inlet between Topsail and Lea-Hutaff Island, KP and DA20-40:

A Saltmarsh Sparrow, one of my personal favorites because it is kind of a rare and endangered bird, on the Red Watch List, also I took the photo from a kayak, and the reason I got a kayak was to get out to places like the marshes to get closer to nature. KP and DA*300 with DA 1.4 rear converter:

This is a juvenile Tri-Colored Heron, a species I never saw before this year. I happened to come upon a juvenile that was hanging out in a park, where a boardwalk goes through a part of saltmarsh. Over a few weeks I got a lot of good photos of at least two different birds. One bird got kind of used to people and you could get pretty close, especially when it was feeding. KP and DA*300 with DA 1.4 rear converter:

Go back to the beach for a sunrise shot with a tidal pool for some reflections and some birds for silhouettes, KP and DA20-40

I'll close with a sunrise shot from Holly Shelter, KP and DA20-40

KP and the DA20-40 keep on delivering for you. Seems like a very potent combo in the right hands. I just wish the DA20-40 was a constant f2.8, it would be a dream lens.
Either way, VERY good photos.

Beautiful shots, Tom. I liked your two shots in the first set from the Holly Shelter and the Saltmarsh Sparrow in particular.

Like many, this was not good year. I have 1400 keepers on my computers. For 13, I had 15,000. But I still got a few to post.

And remembrance of my old buddy tripper. He went with me , every where, and included himself (and his tennis ball) in almost everything I did.

I'm a year late to this party. I was way behind in processing my images so I missed the boat in early 2022. I have enjoyed everyone else's images.

For me 2021 wasn't a year of great photo ops, but I got some images I was pleased with in the local area. Using the Nik Collection for finishing touches on images was a step forward. Images in chronological order.

1. Golden Whistler, male. KP + DA 55-300mm f4.5-6.3 PLM

2. Black Swan. KP + Kenko 1.5x TC + FA*300mm f4.5

3. Galah (male). KP + FA*300mm f4.5

4. Grey Shrike-thrush (female). K-S2 + DA 55-300mm f4.5-6.3 PLM

5. Laughing Kookaburra. KP + DA 55-300mm f4.5-6.3 PLM

6. I saw this Koala with her baby on board just after she crossed the road, as I drove past. She climbed a roadside tree as I pulled over. We see koalas often enough around here, but this was pretty special. KP + DA 55-300mm f4.5-6.3 PLM

7 & 8. These two were taken within seconds of each other. I tried each in B&W and colour; B&W worked better in the landscape orientation and colour in portrait. Both hit Flickr Explore. K-S2 + DA 16-85.

9. Common Bronzewing (male), showing the lovely iridescence on the wings. KP + DA 55-300mm f4.5-6.3 PLM

10. Rainbow Lorikeet on a callistemon (Bottlebrush). KP + DA 55-300mm f4.5-6.3 PLM
