Thematic Woodland, Prairie and Savanna Birds

I occurred to me that there is a thread for yard birds, birds in flight, and a birding subgroup, but none dedicated to birds in the forests and prairies, so here it is.

This longleaf pine has been worked by red-cockaded woodpeckers. The bore into the tree to get resin to flow down the bark, making it hard for snakes to climb. The also bore nesting cavities. No woodpeckers seemed to be in the area when I walked through. The last photo is a red-cockaded woodpecker, taken last year.

This one at a local Bird Sactuary-A Sparrowhawk, quite nice to have them in such an urban environment

The Spotted Eagle Owl lives in Delta Park, and has raises their chicks successfully for years.
