Belted Kingfisher. I've been chasing this species for a while, today's shots were the best so far. I was able to get within maybe 50 feet of this male belted Kingfisher in my kayak, it's still cropped quite a bit. The water was a tad rough due to a little wind, and occasional boat wakes, so I ended up having to use continuous autofocus and 9 points. I've never done that before on a still subject, but it worked OK, better than I could have done with AF.S in that situation.

Black-belied Plover, I'm not sure if this is a juvenile or just in non-breeding plumage, taken from kayak

Here's a few from the midwest. Yep, we have seagulls (lakegulls?) in Kansas.

Snowy Egret, south east Florida, wetlands around a water treatment plant (not my cup of tea but the birds love it!)

This brown pelican is sitting on the end of an old dock that is mostly gone. I was able to get close in my kayak. As I moved around the area I could look back and see this one and it's buddy sat there for at least an hour, they must have already had their fill of fish, as other pelicans were flying around hunting.

A couple other pelican photos

Blue Winged Teals. I've never seen a duck squabble before...one minute serenely paddling side by side - then this happened!

My apologies for posting out of focus, it started and stopped so fast.
