Brush for the old fashioned mug and brush for shaving? Maybe not so old fashioned they seem to be popular again.

I'll let more guesses come in & then I'll post the answer. Besides, I've misplaced it and wanted to post a photo of the entire object to reveal the answer.

Everyone has said a brush of some sort, so I'm going to go left-field:

Is it some sort of really thin noodles?
Somthing in my mind thinks I've seen something like that in an Asian food shop... ha ha

I can't find it, but you guys were correct that it is a paint brush! Not a shaving one. Just small paint brush.

Took this one today. Fist guess what it is, then guess what it belongs to.

Ant's head!

P.S. I'd even guess that it is likely a species of Camponotus (carpenter ant)

That looks like an insect eye. I’d say beetle of some type.

You are correct. It is an ant's head - ant's eye. I'm sure you're correct that it is a carpenter's ant, but I'm no entomologist.

Perhaps some other users could join the game and post some mystery photos. I'm going to try to conjure up another one now, from my collection.

Oh, here are a few other macros of the same ant. BTW, I used the smc Pentax-M 50mm macro f4 with Asahi Pentax extension tubes. It's quite difficult to nail focus on the ants eye(s). That being said, the articulating screen on my k-s2 is invaluable (for me) with macro - & my #1 complaint about the k3iii.

Ok, here's my 3rd mystery image.
Guess the subject/object in the photograph.
Photo taken in Columbia, South Carolina, visiting my sisters home.
Anyone that wants to join in, please do. I simply crop photos making it quite easy.

That one looks like algae.

I suggest the torch passes to the person who guesses the object most correctly.
