Nice one Rense. One of your best
Thanks! I'm trying to use shorter focal lengths more and more, and this 28mm is a bit scary....

When I first went to the real short focal lengths it was a bit intimidating, but now it is very normal and don't even give it a second though. My Fav for digital is 24mm and film is 28mm

The problem is: with 50mm and longer, you have some space to run. When a person is close as this chap, he can hit you as soon as he hears the shutter

What 28mm do you use Javier?

50mm is a great length for street.. especially getting something that can resemble a portrait.

Just hold the camera to your eye, after the stranger has passed, and pretend you are just taking a photo of a building or something

For my K20D I use a Sigma 24 or Vivitar 24F/2.8 and when I shoot film, I have been using my SMC-A 28 or M40F/2.8.

I leave the exif on my images so it is pretty much all their unless it is film.

Javier...your street images are always so amazing. obviously, you have so many to share that i can't just pick out the ones i like most but i want you to know i thoroughly enjoy your photos and am glad you share so freely. (btw...i swear there must be at least 10 of you running the streets of california, where do you find the time to take so many pictures!?!)

anyways, i don't do much photographing of strangers, but this i thought was pretty neat:

notice how far away the person is....and they are walking away from me. bold of me, i know! [/sarcasm]

Nice shot. Although, I think this image would look better with b&w treatment.

Today, our cabinet collapsed in a dispute over Afganistan. At the same time, we're prepairing for local elections. These are shots from the election market today, shot with the MNP-1B (MIR-1V). Because 'MIR' = peace

This is my favourite thread where I always find inspiring photos. You guys make it look so easy.
Went to the Chinese New Year celebration last weekend but found it to crowded to get good photos of people. I then had this idea to capture the visitors from the vendors point of view.

Cheers
Eddie

You've captured a nice mood in #3 Rense. What length is your MIR?
