thanks... i am enjoying your images too. those 1.4 lenses of yours are making me think i need a 50mm f1.4. everyone posting here has some great stuff. diff pov, style, processing/settings, etc. I'm in a very small town and am starting to become a regular with the natives. I think they have begun putting on a show for the camera. I just picked up a GH1 with 3 lenses and tried it out today. very pleased with the results. the 45-175mm has a auto zoom switch on the lens and is a treat to use. got one for my grandson (he's in Virginia) and we are comparing notes and technique.

nice to hear you are comfortable with your models I haven't had that ever. as a matter of fact I don't, because shooting people unnoticed is the best way to picture them in their most natural moments. but looking at your images makes me think that they make beautiful and genuie street photography too when you interact with them. certainly like to try your style one day. just not comfortable in a large city

A few are interested in having pics done when they catch me pointing the camera at them but i still get the finger and some nasty looks. I have others photographing me and its no big deal (kinda expect it). I've run into other street shooters and just talked for a while about doing it and comparing gear/pics. I am still not completely comfortable with it and some scenes are just too personal to capture (for me). Will see what its like when i'm in downtown chicago in a week or so.

The logic of riding a motorcycle without a helmet truly escapes me.

I saw one helmet in the whole country and he wasn't wearing it. There are about as many scooters as cars. If you had ever driven in the Dominican Republic, you would realize that a helmet is the least of the worries. Hysterical Nobody stops at red lights except in dowtown Santo Domingo and Santiago. They even make left turns at red lights and pass into oncoming traffic. Those cows coming through town is all that kept the streets clear of autos and motorcycles. That is normally how traffic looks. As far as Ivoire's shots go, those guys think its the cool factor. Scraping brains off the pavement has to cramp those guys style.

Yeah, I guess if you don't actually use your brain for anything then....

Interesting insights into the DR though. Sounds a lot like where I live.. terrible drivers here.
