wish i have framed them better, but besides being a complete noob also feel uncomfortable shooting strangers, so for me is really 'point & shoot' with these kind of shots

Thanks. You mean in terms of processing ?

It's roughly the same recipe, in Lightroom I boost the shadows and decrease the highlights, then add clarity and contrast.
I usually also play with the S-Curve and the different color channels in order darken/lighten some regions or tones.
Then I add some sharpening and vignetting.

And when I want a more dramatic effect I go to Silver Efex, but I prefer to do everything in Lightroom if possible.
