I've been yearning to start a 100 Strangers project as I want to get into portraiture, but so far I haven't been able to overcome my own shyness. However, on a beautiful sunny and (finally) warm day this week, I crossed paths with a stranger who seemed to be enjoying the sun to such an extent that I couldn't not ask to take his picture. He agreed right away, but after I took the shot and wanted to say thanks, with his eyes closed and his headphones on, he was oblivious... So I crossed the street and got a context shot, but never got his name. Thanks stranger! (First shot was previously posted in the K-3 sample shots thread.)

Ive considered street photography any time I am just walking through a urban environment capturing details and people you would see every day but never pay attention to the beauty of. I feel to be street photography the images can not be planned, staged or askefd about before hand in any way. I dont take pictures of stangers except one time these teenagers could tell I was trying to photography a fountain and they decided to play in front of me anyways. If I did take street portraits I would take them first then ask the person(s) if it was Okay that I used them. If you ask for permission first I think it stages the shot you will take to much. I really think of street photography as a walk around and capture the beauty you see that everyone else is passing by because they're too absorbed in their own life.
