Only 1 day left to choose a lens. DO I drag around my K-1 with the SMC-A 28-135mm Macro, a lens I've owned for 6 years but don't believe I've used in SIC? Do I instead choose the light and compact KP with DA 40mm?
Do I go to my friendly local camera store and see what might be available in the used section? He may not have much in stock be he occasionally gets a rarity or a gem, or just somethin very unique. Decisions, decisions!

Ok, I think I’ve decided… I’m going to chuck the SMC Takumar 135/3.5 on for the month. If I don’t, I’ll just keep wondering what it would be like on the KP - so it’s best I find out.

So my lens for August is going to be the Porst Color Reflex 55/1.2... I bought it a few days ago and I had been encouraged by seeing pictures of one of the users here (any guess on who it might be? :P )

to get focus confirmation, you may need to alter the anodized mount... I used copper foil tape on mine:

I saw your trick and already ordered the conductive tape. After the first trials, I'm impressed by the lens but also grateful that the KP has such an incredible focus peaking

Alas, I was too slow to get out the door, they close at 1 PM on Saturdays.

If I can get there on Monday, perhaps they will have something worthy of SIC. I'm not too concerned, though with the intense August sun, a CPL will be a must-have.

I'm definitely in. Going with the D FA 50mm macro. If anybody else doing the challenge has any strong revulsion to spiders, lizards, wasps, frogs, or bugs, lemme know! I'll link instead of embed those.

Well Robbie has decided the lens for me, I have his 100mm A 2.8 macro lens heading half way around the globe to me, no chance of happening by tomorrow, so to prepare me for the Macro challenge when it arrives, I will warm up with the original Macro Takumar 50mm 1:4 1:1. With winter not quite letting us out of the grip yet, inside in the warm seems like a good idea too, way too many dark photos in July with not enough light after work, Thanks Robbie

I've been wondering what to use. I did consider the K150 but I found I had completed a month with this lens in October 2020. I think I am going to use the K35/3.5 which is one of the K series lenses I have had the longest and used the least. The high ISO capability of the the K-3iii should help offset the slow maximum aperture.

HI guys,

Been awhile since I've been here. Bought an X Pro3 at the end of 2021 and have been pre-occupied with learning that machine and the native 33 1.4. Well, a heart attack later and I'm getting back to taking photos on a regular basis again. I really enjoy using my old Pentax glass on the Fuji and there is always so much inspiration here so why not come back to the fold.

I sold quite a bit of my gear so my choices are limited at the moment. I'll start August simple with an M50 1.7 on the X Pro 3. Maybe all one film simulation but I'm not sure about that yet.
Also need to remember to add the theme days to my calendar this time :-)

Let me say that your DA 20-40 still performs perfectly and it became my favourite lens in recent months.

July didn't really happen for me, photography-wise, so must try harder in August. This month's lens will be an old favourite, the Helios 44K-4 58/2.

I am so happy to hear the lens is working for you. The 20-40 was my default lens on my K5 and was my favorite.

Health wise I'm still in recovery but progressing on schedule. Thank you for the thoughts.
