WOW, Sandy, this thread is impressive on soooo many levels.
Really appreciate you showing us the 'how and why' of making such a beautiful bread knife.

One of your many talents isn't so hidden now.

I love the walk through. Not too much detail - nor too little. Lovely blade.

My knife making journey has continued unabated since that bread knife went to a Forum member in Florida.

Here are the most recent two - forged from the newly-developed high carbon super steel - Apex Ultra.

A lovely matched pair of cutters, mate.

I've been thinking (which is always dangerous for me!!) that you must have a couple of Surgeon buddies at the various hospitals you work at, and that the gift of a personalized hand-made, non-surgical use Damascus scalpel from you would be a cherished 'straight to the poolroom' present.......just sayin'...

I'm fairly sure I'll be ordering one more knife later this year, probably a carver, to match up with your bread knife, which has received more than a few compliments. Apex Ultra for it sounds perfect.

Over the past year your knife has become one of my wife's very precious things, and she has more respect and appreciation for it because of how diligently you documented the process. Had she just received the knife without the background story I'm sure she would have thought it was a lovely blade, but you made it special for her with the photos of the tools, the steps, and the overall process of crafting a hand-forged and customized knife for us.

I've been thinking the same... I guess he just calls in sick.

Marvelous work, Sandy.
