Foliage

Getting into Fall now, where I live, and it got me thinking about leaves. Admittedly, folks like the bright colors, but I think leaves are always interesting, color or not, alive or dead. And no one really ever notices the humble leaf, but they have really interesting structures and textures and in the way life (and bugs) treat them. And so different, morphologically, from species to species.

Ah...agreed, 100% This could be fun! I'll rummage in my archives, got lots and lots of tropical leaves to contribute! Thanks. Here's one to start...(original is sharper than this, sorry) butterfly on a palm leaf.

Leaves, leaves, leaves, blocking the view... but aren't they what we are actually looking for?

(acacia leaves I think here)

I suspect that's black locust, also called, "false acacia"; does it make big black pods with sticky bean-like seeds inside and thorns?

Well, these trees are quite far from where I live (I was on vacation), so the picture is the only evidence I have. Zooming on the full resolution picture, it looks like there are no thorns nor black pods

terrific picture, anyway - I've got one similar with black walnut trees. the pinnate leaf structure is great for filtering the light.
