I was thinking about hauling out the big guns and using the Photosniper, but in the end decided to go with the Sigma 24/1.8 EXDG Macro. I'll save the Photosniper for later in the year.

I expect a tripod will be needed.
With flash, not necessarily. I shoot a lot of stuff up to 3:1 handheld, e.g. most or all of JensE's Album: Macro beyond 1:1 - PentaxForums.com. I used one flash on a tripod though.

After two months of limited shooting and mostly with zooms, I will observe the 4th month of the year by using the 40mm XS on my KP.

I think I am going to use teh Sigma 50mm I acquired used in December on my K-1 for SIC in the 5th month of the year.

It looks like I'm gonna give April a chance. I drove back home from north today after 3 weeks at ski resort. Thought it's still bit early I've decided to end the season here and not do late April to early May ski trip like I have so often done. Instead I try to start windsurfing season earlier than I usually do. Anyway I expect to have time to shoot this month.

I felt fishy today, so F17-28 FE shall be the lens of the month. Just noticed that my previous single in month with it was April two years ago. I did not do it on purpose. At least I get to compare how spring advances. At the start of the month we seem to be a bit later than in 2021.

Ok guys, so cutting the long story short... Having the APSC bodies only, having the DA*55, DA70, and Tamron 90, and not shooting many portraits, I know that I don't need the FA77... but... do I?

Yes you do, it is a very capable walk around lens for city scenes, landscapes, nature etc, well worth a try

Welcome back Ismo , I have that lens too, it is a fun lens with plenty of uses, I like that it doesn't seem too fishy at 28mm so that is not a one trick lens. Good to hear you are recovered from your previous soreness and ready to windsurf

My absolute favorite lens on my Prakticas, by a wide margin, was the Zeiss Jena Practicar (B-mount Pancolar) 80mm f/1.8 for years. The FA 77mm is very similar, also in size, just a tad better in about every respect . At the moment I even have two, an smc and a recently acquired HD, have sold my DA70 a while ago.

However, it doesn't have quick shift, AF can be noisy, minimal focus distance is fairly long, there's easily a good amount of PF and LoCa, corners (on FF) sharpen up only closing it down a bit, there's lots of coma wide open ... in short, it has character. It's also somewhat long on APS-C. The DA70 in comparison looks more "correct" and handles harsh contrasts better, but can also render fairly cool colors and look a bit clinical. Let me know if you want to give it a try!

I tried it vs the DA70 Limited & I ended up selling the DA 70... the FA 77 Limited has another measure of pixie dust vs the 70...

and I shoot no portraits...

Finally made up my mind, going for a month of tight spaces, closeups and big skies with the D-FA 21mm Ltd. This should be interesting on the sailing ship trip at the end of the month.

Deutsche Telekom took our DSL offline for a change tomorrow already last night. I need to save mobile data volume for work. I'll catch up once reconnected.
