The days almost over but my limited internet connection let me fix the title for todays thread.

The comments I’ll do when my internet behaves.

The internet is still out so I’m on pause for now. Today was super busy so I didn’t get a shot in but we made Sweet Pepper Pickle, the filling for meat pies and the start of soup (stock). So it wasn’t a total loss to be unplugged.

Woohoo I got yesterdays image posted. It’s a rare find for us as belted kingfishers only pass through. We get to see them for a couple of days and then they are gone. Yesterdays shot got the bird and it’s dinner in flight so I was pretty tickled. Internet issues will plague me for what might be the rest of the month. I will add when it lets me.

What's your tolerance for dust inside lenses? Do you send lenses off for cleaning with any regularity? Where to?
I pulled out my A*85 today and found quite a few particles inside the front element and it is driving me *nuts*.

I've never sent a lens for cleaning. I guess I'm very tolerant and also, in all honesty, I've yet to find dust in lens affecting my shots, what is more "normal" is dust on the sensor, which I clean myself, but when I see it affecting a picture, I just fix it in post, which I think I would do the same if I found dust in lens affecting my shots.

I also tolerate it until it affects the image (which hasn't happened). I do have a few lenses with fungus (unfortunate early lens purchases) that I'm tempted to attempt a diy cleaning on.

I’ve never had enough dust to notice. I’m lucky I have an awesome local repair shop that I would trust 5o do it if the need ever arises:

It was taken just over 10 years ago for a SIC

I doubt it.

I clean my own sensor too, with both the rocket blower and with wet swabs. Sounds like you can tolerate dust in the lens though.

None of my lenses have fungus, so far as I know. That would be too much for me.

Lucky you! Do you have mostly new lenses? All of mine are 30+ years old and most probably came with some dust, but some seem to be getting new specks from somewhere.
That is a cool Pentax sign. Is it still in the window?

Thanks for your input guys. Sounds like I'm super-sensitive to dust. There's still a couple of lenses in my stable that I want to send off for general maintenence, but I'll probably have to get a thicker skin with regard to my dust tolerance though.

IF dust in the lens has no effect on my images, I am not bothered by the dust.
However, I probably need to have a CLA done to my K-1, though I use a blower and even sensor swabs, I have noticed a few consistent spots on images no matter which lens I use.

I really love this K3iii Mono, so much so that I would consider selling by my KP and my K-1 to fund the purchase of my own copy.

Luckily it's mostly no big deal- a couple of cheap film autofocus zooms, two not-rare M series lenses... and the "stack of primes" A zoom and the magical 105mm vivitar macro. I've had the latter two sealed in an airtight bin with a ton of desiccant for a few months to at least avoid it getting worse, probably about time to pull them out and take a look - I really miss the vivitar. The remainder live by themselves far from my other lenses, not really sure what to do with them. I basically stopped buying lenses from private sellers. I think any small fungus problem quickly blows up from the intense humidity here.
