Challenge #481

Welcome to this week's Post Processing Challenge #481, many thanks to tuggie76 for hosting the last challenge.

As most of you know... I kinda enjoy the more dreamy style of photography, rather than the "clinical" super sharp demanded today by so many.

On a recent business trip I had some fleeting moments of time to relax, amongst some quite wonderful and very unassuming scenery, often with a glass of fine wine in hand.

So here in the Olive groves, time to dream and reflect in warm sunshine... please show me how you can further enhance the mood with Post Processing to such a scene.

This Challenge runs until Sunday 1st October 2023, @20:00 GMT.

The high res files can be downloaded here:

Here is my attempt. Haven't participated in the postprocessing challenge before so let me know if I am posting this wrong. I went for sort of a golden sunshine look.

You may be surprised but there are a lot of olive trees growing around here. In fact they can be a bit of a problem as a weed! The two things that strike me about olive trees is the distinctive colour of their leaves (olive green I guess) and their somewhat gnarly trunks and branches. I have tried to bring out detail in the trunk and branches of the middle tree at least and keep the original's natural leaf colour while trying to enhance Kerrowdown's dreamy effect. Enough waffle. Here it is:

Winners... Challenge 481

OK no more entries will be accepted for consideration now.

So to the winners... plus of course the movers & shakers that I like to add a quick comment on.

Thanks to all for both the high quality and the large number of submissions for this Challenge. The subject in this instance was a very unassuming piece of scenery of an Olive plantation, I'm pleased to see so many variations of this rather simplistic scene.

Comments first on the images that caught my eye... just in the order that they were submitted.

NatureHike: I'm impressed by the amount a summer warmth you added, whilst keeping it still to be a believable image.

xs400: Certainly a fine sun light flare/streaking addition, which fits in so well with the overall feel.

tuggie76: If I saw this at the time of taking... I would have to question the fact that my last drink (either coffee or wine) had been tampered with a additional substance, added by some wayward parties unknown.

rpjallan: Fine subtle PP tweaks to enhance, rather than overloading/swamping what was originally there.

Ok, so my choice of winner for this Challenge and trust me it was a close run decision is... Winner is rpjallan and runner up NatureHike.

Again thanks to all, over to rpjallan for the next one.
