Right now I think it would be almost impossible to take a shot outdoors without some ice in it! This is one of the many shots I took after the late dec. ice storm. (We have had a couple more since)

I'm in... Maine, where there seems there is always ice somewhere almost all year.

Regards,
Mike

I can't possibly compete with the great images above, but in Seattle it's rare for us to get this stuff, so from a cold snap last month:

I have so many it was hard to pick just one; I'll try my luck with this:

Taken near Twillingate, NL June 9th, 2007 @ 10:37am. My friend and I went on a road trip after work at 2am, stayed up 36hrs just taking pictures the whole day.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. My wife and this challenge get credit for pushing me to go take this... We had an ice storm last week followed by a little snow storm. Since then the light has been flat, work has intervened, etc.

Early Saturday morning DW pushed me to go up to the top of the hill where the ice was a little heavier and had not yet melted. I looked out the window and saw a nice clear sunrise coming on and knew the light was going to be good. With this challenge in mind, I packed my things together and off I went. Glad I did!

The "perfect storm." Thanks again and Happy New Year!

woof!

Frozen gate

Here a shot of the iron gate of the castle garden nearby, made last Friday. Not too much ice, but there is some...

I Have to say, some of these shots are just so fascinating. Makes one shiver just looking at them. Some brilliantly taken photos, guys and gals, from someone who never sees anything like them. Well done!

Oh I don't know about that...

Tough one? No kidding. Some of us live in the tropics you know. The only way to get ice around here is by means of the freezer, or maybe at the local liquor store where you can get a free ice bag with any bottle of spirits...

I'm with seamuis here.

And, even if I put a couple of Ice cubes in a glass and saturated them with Scotch, by the time I got through adjusting the glass, the ice and the Scotch, I'd be far too smashed to take the picture anyway.
My entry is just a couple of ice cubes from my freezer that I played around with for the 'Opposites' challenge from the other forum:

And by the time I finished this set of pictures I was punch drunk from trying to get a string tied around the ice cubes to stay tied long enough to get the picture and keep my cat from knocking them down - even with the candle lit.

(Hey!! I FINALLY got the multi-quote thing to work!! )

Hey Tracy! welcome back! What a wonderful shot. Next time try a fine wire that left in the freezer, it should stick to the ice cubes. But what the hey you got the shot and it's a beaut! But from you I would have expected one of those wonderful skating shots.

Those skating photos eat up my life! It's a challenge to find something in my files that's not related to that!

I sometimes get the chance to lurk a bit and that's when I noticed the responses I quoted. The photo I posted was my first thought. But I'm gonna have to admit that I figured somebody would have entered a photo of 'ice cube as a lipstick'. A little more interesting and no winter required, right? (Yes, I'm blushing... )

Thanks also for the wire advice. Will try that next time. I kind of like the fire and ice idea and want to work on it some more in the future. Finding the time is my other daily challenge...
