I have been getting quite experimental with my photography lately and developed an interest in Intentional Camera Movement, or ICM, photography. Best way to describe it is.. oh well, quoting from Wikipedia:
"camera is moved during the exposure for a creative or artistic effect. This causes the image points to move across the recording medium, producing varied effects such as streaking, textures, and layers in the resulting image. The central idea in ICM photography is that motion serves as the primary compositional element. Strict technical or definitional arguments remain vague in this form of photography which has a long history and is connected with many other forms of photography, such as Impressionism and often blurs genres and styles."
Based on this definition, it appears that holding the camera still when just the subject is moving is not really ICM, you have to move the camera.
I've looked for a dedicated thread but couldn't find one, so I decided to create one myself, to share my results and find inspiration in what others have done as well. Maybe the increased forum activity during the current giveaway will help this thread to grow. I'll start by sharing my first ever camera movement attempt from almost ten years ago, shortly after I had my first Pentax camera.
