Me on the trails yesterday (x-post from the self portrait thread).
This patch of early color looked great but it needed a rider to be a better image so since I was alone it had to be me!
I love this bike! (Pivot Trail 429)

Great shot! It looks like a capable bike. How wide are those handlebars? I'm used to 40cm road bars, so they look incredibly wide to me.

Thanks. Not sure exactly but I found the year before it was 760mm so maybe it is the same for 2020. Definitely wide. Great for stability at speed but I need to give the trees plenty of room on the trail.
The bike rides like a dream. Downhill performance is like no bike I have ridden before and it still climbs well too.

Yeah - I heard that parts of Colorado were roasting two days ago and then snowed upon the following day. Weird. (Or, just Colorado? ) Admittedly, I have been in SW Colo twice when the weather was pretty summer-like and then the sky turned very cold very fast.

It can be a little like this but this level of extreme is pretty unusual. Summer snow is usually more of just a dusting but this was 8" of heavy snow.
They say the last time this happened here this time of year was before my time in 1960.

Unbelievable weather, Matt! We had a "cold snap" here, too, that suddenly brought the highs down from 110°+ to 90° today. I could not get over how nice it felt outside. Lots of deep breathing, revelling in the smell of fall. I took the long, long way into work this morning, riding about 25 miles on the Hot Wheels bike in spite of it being a work day.

Then, Mom sends me a picture of what it looks like at their place in Oregon: at 9 AM, dark as night, blood-red sky, ash falling like snow. Luckily, they should be safe there in the Willamette Valley, even though the largest fire in the state is less than an hour's drive away.

Crazy times we live in... and that's just the weather!

Lots of smoke blowing over from the coast, but luckily it's staying high in the atmosphere. The sun was pretty muted for my ride this morning.

Another MTB selfie (X-post). I was planning to shoot some panos up here so I had a travel tripod on my pack which made a selfie in this treeless sage zone possible.
