I appreciate the compliments. My other three bikes are steel, but this one (except for the steel fork) I confess is aluminum. It's made from one of Columbus' earliest aluminum tubesets, Aluthron, which they introduced around 1997.
It has some of the best, lightest stuff you could put on a bike in the '90's. Technology has improved since then, and I could get a new bike of similar weight and performance for not much more money, but I prefer the aesthetics of two or three decades ago. I love bright colors, chrome, and polished aluminum, and those things have become largely extinct in the past two decades. Matte black just doesn't appeal to me.
