After a couple weeks of rain that melted what little snow we had mother nature decided to make up for the lost time in just a couple days.
Yes, two bikes.

Mrs. M8o modeling the custom one-off basket insert that Garrett Chow of Globe made for us after I expressed my dis-appointment in an e-mail with the stock design, as it was impossible for anything other than a sack of potatoes or case of soda/beer to stay in it...
That's the name we gave the bike, "Sweetie" -- because it's such a sweet ride -- that they stenciled on the inside of the basket's insert!

m8o: that's a cool bike. The weather is not so nice for cycling here now but people still do it.

The weather is in the 20's in NYC but my wife is still riding to work. I'm not sure if she'll do so in the snow however.

Some 'nicer' photos in more controlled lighting. It's a Globe Live 3. The custom basket insert made by the lead designer of Globe, Garrett Chow, after I wrote them regarding how difficult it is to keep anything in the basket due to those low wide open rails it comes with stock, is certainly a dramatic design aesthetic...

Like my Trek Soho it's got a Gate Carbon Belt drivetrain with 8-speed internal hub gearing (and hers comes with the better one), but unlike my Soho her bike's equipped with discs (hydraulics) that I wish I had. (we added the Brooks saddle, and that kewl bell! )

I do have to say, her bike is a seriously sweet, well equipped ride with beautiful lines...

I kinda wish I got the men's version for myself instead of my Trek Soho, primarily due to the horrible drum brakes the Soho is equipped with. What the Soho really has going for it is its quick steering. When I want to play "bomber bike messenger" when the traffic gets heavy and I start weaving in and out of cars as I pass them, it's up to that task just as well as it is playing old-man commuter bike.

I can see that the basket was a bit shallow originally, and that add-on fits the design quite well.

If it's any consolation the Shimano Roller brakes (which are on your Soho I presume) are practically indestructible with no need for changing brake pads or adjustments. And I've seen a few of those Tektro Auriga Comps with damaged seals in the lever after about a year of riding, though they were on bikes which were ridden hard off-road.
