Whoa, sew ups?!?! My wife inherited a bike with those and once she got a flat and we realized we could get a new set of clincher wheels for the price of a new set of tires we opted for the new wheels!

But a sweet old bike for sure. I like the Campy derailleur too!
Campy forever!

I encountered Barb out on the road about 5 years ago. She'd had a flat and was waiting for her husband to pick her up. He died a couple of years ago and she sticks to the velodrome because she doesn't have the upper-body strength to change a single. She's in her 70s and is build like a marathon runner. However, she's planning to get a new bike with clinchers so that she can do some long rides.

Richard.

Nice. My mom who is now 70 also still gets out, mostly on a mountain bike for stability these days. She was the source of the inherited bike! She won an Ironman title in the 80's on that bike.

Congrats to your mom! We get all ages and abilities on the local velo; from kids to "seniors", wobbly almost beginners to grand tour stage winners. It's a gently-banked, 333 metre outdoor track, so anyone can ride it. It's OK for 60km/h apart from the entry to one of the curves where you can get a bit light (not quite airborne) at 55km/h. One of the regulars is 83 or 84. He was doing double metric centuries a year or so ago and still does a few 150km rides. It's great to see the oldies still fit.

Wow - practising track stands in ugg boots. That is so cool. I'm sure that's the reason you took this shot Smart girl - she's got her left foot out of the toe clips just in case things go pear-shaped.

I always chuckle when I see the title of this thread. There was a time when I truly was a lover of bicycles; but after being the owner, and sole operator of a bicycle shop for 14 years, I can honestly say I HATE BICYCLES!

A good friend and riding buddy of mine had a similar experience. But he still loves bikes, he just hates retail.

That's probably more accurate for me, as well.
