The Tour of Britain bike race passing right by the end of my driveway this afternoon. I wanted to get a bit of blur in the bikes closest to the camera, but never having shot a bike race before I wasn't sure what shutter speed to use and I guessed too slow at 1/125. In hindsight, a stop faster would have been better but I had no idea of the speed those guys can actually pedal. Half a mile from this point they'd have started the notorious Pork Hill climb up onto Dartmoor -- which my cyclist neighbour tells me is a Category 2 "King of the Mountains" stage. And that's after these guys had already done a hundred miles around Devon today.

Still works for me Dave - I like the blur on the nearer riders and the distortion of the wheel in the corner - great action shot.

Thanks Arjay. Watching the race highlights on tv last night was a real eye opener for me -- it made me realise what amazing cycling countryside I live in, and how much further afield I could get for photographic opportunities on a bike. I haven't owned a bike since my old Raleigh racer back in the nineties, but this weekend I'm planning on renting a mountain bike from the local hire place and seeing how I like it.

Sounds like fun to me - early in 2019 my wife and I started riding regularly and now do several kilometers a day - we love it. Riding has a very soft impact on the landscape so wildlife allows us to get quite close before being startled so that really adds to the experience. Look forward to seeing the new photographs produced.

I put the bike down to photograph this fox but it was pretty curious about the bike! (a 1971 Peugeot - I can't blame him!)

It rained all day here on Friday. It stopped overnight, but when I took a ride Saturday morning, the water wasn't done getting to wherever it goes.

I took lots of detours, but there was no getting around it sometimes.

It got a little foggy after sunrise - very usual for here. One thing I love about this bike: it brings a bit of color wherever I go.

Arizona has long had a consistently reliable winter monsoon, along with the fact the Phoenix metropolitan region doesn't bother with storm drains.
