Tuesday Assignment #2: Perspective

Welcome to the second Tuesday Assignment! Each week we'll have a new assignment intended to help your photography by opening us up to new ideas for shooting.

How does it work?

Each week will have a new theme. The theme might be specific, generic or anywhere in between. Your task is to create a shot that embodies the theme. Your interpretation is all that matters!

This is not a competition and there are no rules. Post your photos within this thread.

This week's theme: Perspective

90% of photos are taken from eye-level pointing at the horizon (I'm playing it fast and loose with the statistics here, but you get the idea). Photos of people are an especially staunch offender.

Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to photograph a subject or scene from a different viewpoint. Get a ladder (and be careful!), jump, or crouch -- any way to get a different perspective. Change it up. Also consider a different angle than the standard portrait or landscape shots. Our heads might always be level with the horizon but our cameras don't have to be!

Certainly not the best example, but this photo is taken from underneath the subject, giving it a feeling of majesty:

Post any questions or comments in this thread -- as well as your interpretations of the theme.

Above all, have fun!

Concrete, Steel and Sky

There must be something about looking up - here's mine...

I liked the angle and contrasts.

From up above (and looking down) - who needs to pay for the newspaper when you can read it for free as such:

A look inside a "traditional" kayak. Actually, the design is traditional but instead of whale bone frame and seal skin covering the frame is wood and the covering waterproof nylon, but the construction details are the same. You can't see it but the frame members are tied together not nailed. I've included a more "normal" photo so you can get an idea of what you're looking at!

All in all, a very elegant craft.

Really enjoyed all of your photos - different perspective on the same subject can open an entirely new view and interest provoking composition!
