Lots of 'to die for' shots here. Some humble efforts from me:
A small flock of Corellas in afternoon light - Swan River, Perth Tokina ATX 80-400

Angry seagull, Bunbury foreshore, squall coming in behind DA 16-45

This one can't compare to the lovely detailed photos of BIF, but I like these vultures who always greet me on a particular road on a favorite bike route.

Daniel, that is a shot anyone would be proud of, regardless of experience. Nicely done!

Thanks, pingflood. If/when I get to try another shot like that I will bump up the shutter speed and try turning the shake reduction off. I'm not sure if it helps or hurts when shooting panning shots hand-held. I took a lot of shots that day and most of them were way too soft. This particular photo was much sharper before it was resized and compressed for web.

Agree this is a great first try. However, I find shake reduction does help in panning for birds in flight.

One tip I will give you about uploading and resizing. I don't resize because flickr resizes for you. I don't know what you use to upload your photos to the web, but I find flickr better than photobucket. I found that if I resized before uploading to the web, my nice sharp photos were a bit blurry.

Bald Eagle

I'm a long way from the pros on this forum with technique, equipment, or experience, but I'm happy with getting these with a background other than the gray sky.

Flock of terns - couple of species represented. This is now my new desktop image - looks great at 24in.

You can't get much more amateur than this! it's okay though, i make no apologies for trying to learn something new. :-)

Goldfinches, mid-morning feeding. GX-1S was setup on a tripod with a remote shutter release. sat back in my house (about 70 feet away) and snapped away.
