Hummingbirds

Here's a couple from a recent trip to the mountains. A friend had some feeders on their deck, so I sat and watched them come in and out. Pre-focused and then switched to manual and sat with the camera in a fixed position. Promaster Aspherical 28-200 at 200mm. Had to bump up the ISO to get a decent shutter speed. Exif should be intact.

If you really want to learn how to do BIF and see some real BIF photos. Take a look at the home of BIF photography.

Besides my hawk, I got this one yesterday. Like Tom's it's a Great Blue Heron. Unfortunately, there was no sun so no reflection under it.

I knew this guy was going to take off towards me because I saw a nerd w/ a big dog coming down the trail. Little did he know it helped me out.

Nice one Tom.

Mine did the same, just flew up in face almost, but alas he's facing the wrong way.

Gulls etc...

A couple from our recent trip. Though the last was slightly OOF (quick shot as I saw them passing overhead) I thought it looked really cool after adjusting the contrast (original somewhat washed out due to sun).

Coclatoo Takeoff

I managed to catch this shot , unexpectedly, as the Cockatoo launched into a downward takeoff.
He had been sitting in the tree very quietly, and as I was about to take the shot, he dived into his takeoff..
Anyway, I was rather pleased with the outcome.

Got a good one today, I was trying to get a shot of thos dove on a power line when it flew, got one of my best dove shots yet. Quick snap, no time, amazed me when it turned out to be in focus half decent...these guys move when they fly, up to 70 mph. No editing, crop and resize, that's it. This is just how it came off the K-x. Sears 80-200 lens, f4 or f5.6 if I remember correctly.
