@gifthorse - Very nice shots. Your bird is a male Northern Harrier, though, not a Sharp-shinned Hawk.

Yep, that's a Northern Harrier, or Marsh Hawk. The ID giveaway is the wide white stripe at the base of the tail. They are also usually seen gliding low over fields instead of at higher altitudes like most hawks. Here we only see them in winter.

One afternoon's shooting at a local park, I got these and a lot more. K20D, DA*300mm.

This was one ticked off papa redwing. He took several runs at the passing gull.

Yeah because you obviously don't wanna make the rest of us look bad....

OK seriously, those look good. I think the Egret would be better cropped a bit wider and without the wingtip chopped off. Nice shot as is...

Yeah, the egret is not cropped except a bit from the top. Bummers.

Got another hummer this morning, sat on a stool by the feeder with K30 and a SMC Pentax A 50mm and waited...this female Ruby Throated Hummer finally showed up.

Nice shot, especially with a 50mm lens. It looks like it could be a young male to me with the stripes on the throat. I've had a number of young males around my feeders but the adult males have pretty much the only ones at the feeder today when I was shooting.
