Excellent framing. This would make a real sweet print.

Got many shots of birds in flight while on vacation on Edisto Island, SC. Gulls, Pelicans, and Egrets are generally plentiful on the island but I did have to look a while to catch the egrets flying.

Here's a brown pelican along with a group shot.

and one diving.

A few gulls.

and a redwing blackbird.

I set up the K3 to take an HDR shot of a landscape near a dock and a Little Egret flew by pretty close to me. I went ahead and took the shot and thought it was a nice effect.

There were more Great Egrets around later that afternoon.

A few from yesterday. Not prime photography conditions, middle of the afternoon...

The eagles and osprey wouldn't come down either.

Very surprised to see a Belted Kingfisher. So surprised I couldn't find him in the viewfinder at 500mm. This one was taken @ 310mm. The other problem was my camera set itself to Tungsten WB while it was in my lap...good thing I shoot RAW.

Right above my head and looking at me. This one was clicked with Tamron AF 28-80mm F/3.5-5.6 Asph at 80mm.
I clicked several with SMC Pentax-FAJ 75-300mm AL on that day but none of them turned good enough. Need to learn how to capture a good BIF photo.

It's the odd couple. The long-billed curlew and his trusty sidekick the marbled godwit. Don't tell them they're different species, let alone the fact that they should be nowhere near the west coast. They're having a hay day at the local beach, causing a ruckus with every birder out to capture their antics.
