Sometimes, when people discuss the possible specifications of the K-new crop flagship of 2020, some of the reactions are along the lines of "who would need specifications like that? do you aim to photograph black cats at midnight?"
I might be asking the impossible. But see these horned larks? I get maybe ONE chance of a horned lark shot every ten years - they are rare guests, and I really suck at finding them when they do visit (partly because they mostly sit still and hide among stubble in huge harvested fields). So, I got this when they flew past me. DA* 300mm at ISO 3200, 1/1000 and f6.3 (to have a wide enough focus plane for half a chance of catching them in it). ISO 3200 is my max for birding, but this is Danish December, we have NO light, and I had to lift the exposure +1 in pp - so the real ISO is 6400. I cropped brutally, about 1/10th of the frame.
So, what I am saying here is - I deserve no better than I got. But a girl can dream: When they K-new comes out, I hope for better AF-performance (allowing me to shoot tiny BIFs at higher aperture), better ISO performance (allowing me to shoot BIFs in December in Denmark with less noise-grief) and maybe a little more resolution to make the brutal cropping more rewarding.
I know that's a lot to ask. Hey - but I got a horned lark BIF! Yey!
