Never knew this thread existed - here is one, not a "Bird In Flight", but of a "Bird Taking Flight". The spots that you see in the photo behind his legs are from his wing hitting a patch of wild rice in the marsh, that is the rice coming off of the plant...

I think that counts as "in flight". What a beautifully dreamy sense of motion in the wings!

Here is one I just shot earlier today after making a few focus adjustments, did a minor black and white conversion on it...

Nice B&W conversion - fits the scene well.

This shot of a Tundra Swan was done with a K-5 using Sigma 150-500 lens set at 400mm, aperture 10
Overall I am pleased with the Sigma lens on the K-5. However I do look to be able to buy the Sigma 500 4.5 or, if the price comes down and it is significantly better than the Sigma 500, the Pentax 560. It would need to be significantly better to warrant a 40% premium since it is slower, albeit 10% longer.

Here are a few to add to this thread.

One of my favorites of 2012, doesn't seem like much but every time I view this this one it takes me back to that day (a fantastic one it was!!!)...
Osprey - Coming Up Empty

This one has been a hit at my local art gallery...
Great Blue Heron - Morning Flyby (Monochrome)

I think this one turned out pretty good, got a fairly clean shot off right when he pitched...
