Bitterns are more often seen than heard, so I was particularly happy to get this BIF!

In my humble opinion, egrets in flight are gorgeous. You may click on the image to enlarge it. (Equipment is an smc Pentax-F 1:4.5-5.6 on handheld Pentax K-S2).

Thanks to everyone for posting such excellent images in this thread!

Best wishes,
Stu

Nice captures K-3 and Don!

Don, if'd been me I'd have had to post it in the "Missed It By That Much" thread.

Steve,
Thanks. This was a tracking shot on a tripod. Haven't got the knack to move it just right while shooting. This guy has his beak open.
He just got chased away by another Heron so I assume he is upset.
I've got a pretty good shot of an Osprey (not the one from Lamar Valley) with his fish but don't know the right place to post him. He is sitting in a tree not flying.
Got a Kingfisher with his shrimp as well.

caught these guys (Canada Geese) as they were incoming to the very high water of the Snake River as we floated down 10 miles float trip operated by Barker - Ewing, Jim was the boatman I recommend them very hightly

water was very high and very bumping in the small inflated raft/boat and it was truly a "snap shot" and a "wing and a prayer"

we've both managed to catch these guys taking off,
I'm amazed how fast and gracefully these big birds can get airborne.
My next few frames were out of focus as the camera picked up the highlights off the water behind this guy. Need to work on holding the focus and correcting as I shoot.
Thanks for the thumbs up!
