LOL. On the plus side my chances of getting the back end in focus is much greater than the front end.

A bald eagle image from a few years ago. Close to a 100% crop.

Garrrrldannng it! What a beautiful wildlife capture. Of course, I am very partial to Bald Eagles, but this image is one of the best I have ever had the privilege of viewing.

Many, many thanks for sharing sir.

Thanks for the nice comment! I love photographing bald eagles but it can be challenging. Hitting focus and exposure can be tough.

A recent Brown Pelican

Not a traditional shot of the Hooded Megansers flying by, but I just kind of like the scene

Fabulous! We have bald eagles but I've never seen one in range of a lens, even a long one. Great capture!

Thanks for the comment! I bet if you did some research you could find some locations to photo the eagles. Around here, in late fall and winter they congregate in large numbers in a few places. Unfortunately they seem to have abandoned my favorite close by spot that I've been going to since 1970, five years ago there we dozens last year zip.

Maybe, although the known places are difficult to access. A few years ago a pair built a nest in a treetop on private land, and then -- horrors! -- a fire burned through that patch of woodland, destroying the nest and the young birds in it. Newspaper reports said the parent birds were frantic as the fire got near, but there was nothing they could do. I think the pair nested elsewhere the next year, I have no idea where.

Wow, that's sad. I've been lucky to have a couple of nests accessible in the past but both are no longer active. In one case the tree blew over, the birds rebuilt in a nearby tree which blew over a couple of years later. Hopefully you'll have some chances in the future.
