These are fantastic, I've tried to track swallows around a pasture, never have gotten any keepers
Especially like the ornithopter in the 4th frame,
Nicely done,

Nicely done,
Thank you! I really have to give credit to the K-3 III. The AF upgrades in this new model are a game changer IMHO. My keeper rate has grown exponentially. In this particular scenario I was shooting from an observation deck right below a local dam. There was a wide open expanse above the creek about 30 feet below. It seemed that about a dozen or so swallows were making very wide sweeps as they chased each other around. It was actually quite entertaining. Also it was a clear sunny day so it was easy to keep the shutter speed up.

"ornithopter" That's great! Hope you don't mind if I use it.

Swallows are a favorite of mine, but I’ve never been successful at getting any shots as nice as yours! Would you be willing to share your specific AF settings?

Had stiffish wind as the ferry was docking the other night, this guy was trying to land on the boat to clean up some spilled popcorn, hovering into the wind.

In the Salish Sea with Maya's Legacy Whale Watching and Wildlife tour from Friday Harbor in San Juan Islands WA, as we slowed to approach an island when crew spotted a bald eagle on the ground

suddenly the cry went out that another bald eagle was overtaking us on the port side to land on the island

this photo was one of the ones I was able to grab as it went by

hand held on moving boat, crop and pp

In the park before the mosquitoes picked me up and carried me away, I was able to get some captures of an obliging Osprey. The K-3 III and D FA 150-450 combo works really well.
