There is a Canadian CP-140 Aurora in the background, to the left of the tower. The aircraft was based on the P-3 and was installed with S-3 type electronics suite. I think the first flight was in early 1979 and it was introduced into service in 1980. Of course, that's a P-3 at the right of the picture.

Wonder what it was doing at Ames in 1979 -- Test and Eval?

Although I didn't purchase any of my still cameras for video, I too have been impressed by the video quality they produce.

I think that some people just like to complain.

And that is why I avoid the Doom And Gloom section of the forum. It just drags me down. If the whiners that frequent those threads want their legacy to be that they whine, bitch and complain then who am I to stand in their way?

NASA Ames shared Moffett Field with the US Navy, who home based a P-3 squadron on the Navy side of the field. If you look at most of the shots I've got of aircraft landing or taking off at Ames, you can see some of the P-3s in the background. I would guess that the CP-140 was there for some joint training with the US Navy aircraft.

Ah yes, Moffett. I should have realized. Nice deployment location for the Canadians in winter! Joint exercises, you know!

From the Hamilton Ontario warplane museum.

The plane that saved the world.
Spitfire. Check out the documentary on Netflix.

Coming back from a mission... still air worthy after all these years.

Great series! Thanks for the tour at the Hamilton Ontario warplane museum. So many historical planes preserved in excellent condition!
