No idea what this is. I just thought it looked old and cool.

I'm guessing a C-47 Skytrain, the military variant of the DC-3 :-) Nice.

Nice shots here lately!
I was out in the sagebrush shooting a bike race and this little plane did a very low flyover. I waved and he wagged back.
I'm guessing he was also watching the race?

Love the mood on this one. SpecialK nailed it - it's a C-47. There are still many of these (and DC-3's) still flying! Tons of great shots on this page, btw Thanks to all who posted.

Jumbo Jet stamp K5 with 40mm DA lens 1/500s f2.8 ISO 100

The photo of the stamp was taken using a Pentax K-5 with a 40mm DA lens, hand held at 1/500 sec f2.8 and ISO100 using outdoor lighting. The background is all Photoshop. This is one photo of a photo book on commemorative stamps I just completed.

Thanks,

I've gone back to commercial flying so haven't had too much time for photography. But...I was sitting reserve the last couple days and went to the Smithsonian Annex, the Udvar-Hazy hangar yesterday. So here's a couple I've processed so far. Since there's not much chance to isolate planes in a museum setting, I strove for some abstract-type shots, or different angles on some. All shot with my K20D and the 18-55 ALII. Most at ISO400 though a couple were high ISO for grain with B/W conversion in mind (Discovery's engines at 3200).
