Museum is very nice and worth seeing, sadly open only 4 hours a day (I was late and had only 2 hours).
Next to the museum is an airfield from witch constantly fly some light planes. Additionally while in the museum I have noticed just above me an Airbus Beluga

KC-97, yes that is the one! By the tail I was expecting it to be some derivative of US bombers, one of those rare ugly planes that are just pretty ...

PS. there are no really ugly planes

in your travels, you could stop by Forbes Field just south of Topeka Kansas

http://research.omicsgroup.org/index.php/Forbes_Field_Air_National_Guard_Base

and visit the Combat Air Museum

Combat Air Museum Home Page

"The Combat Air Museum has served as an educational institution and tourism destination for close to forty years. It is one of a handful of major aviation museums in the United States located on an active air field. Visitors to our Museum are regularly treated to flying activities of Air Force fighter aircraft and Army helicopter operations. With the longest runway in the State of Kansas, large refueling tanker aircraft of the Kansas Air National Guard and army troop transports often fill the skies around the Museum. . . . The Combat Air Museum is a non-profit institution dedicated to the creation of facilities and resources for the education of the local and regional communities through the collection, preservation, conservation and exhibition of aircraft, information, artifacts, technology and art associated with the military aviation history of the United States of America."

http://www.combatairmuseum.org/aircraft/Aircraft%20Master2017.pdf

and it's two hangers.

It is kinda crowded with its planes, helicopters, missiles, models and exhibits, here are some photos from one of its hangers, which ones can you id without checking the cheat sheet?

The Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum, Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum | McMinnville Oregon over the 65 limit. Oregon (Home of the Spruce Goose)

Boeing reused the tail of the B17 on the KC-97, and a few other large bombers and heavy freighters.

Tony, Those windows on the side weren't originally on the Hercules H4 (Spruce Goose). Do you know who added them? I can't see them in the pics of the H4 as delivered to McMinnville. I'll have to look at my pics of the aircraft. I don't remember them but I assume they were added at the museum.

Edit: I just found this: "The glass panels on the port (left) side of the flight deck were installed as part of the display to allow natural light into this part of the aircraft."

Further edit: I just found nearly all my photos of my trip to the PNW in 2009 are missing from my hard drives.

That is a Douglas DC3A.

Earhart was flying a Lockheed Model 10 Electra.

At the time we were there, the price of admission was $25., USD per person. Once we got to the aircraft, we were allowed into the main fuselage, however if we wanted to set foot into the cockpit, they wanted another $25.00 USD per person. I was able to peak into the cockpit and everything was removed i.e, gauges, levers and rudder assembly. Obviously we said no. The first time we were there, there were more exhibits such as the Messerschmitt 109 fighter. As the story goes, returning pilots reported that once the canopy was closed, they could not sit upright because of the low roof of the canopy. Herr (Mr.) Messerschmitt told them they were crazy and nothing was wrong with the aircraft the way it was. Consequently, many German fighter pilots were killed because they were not able to get a good 360 degree view and did not know where enemy fighters were. Their bad, our good. ) I found it quite disturbing that many of the WWII fighter aircraft had been removed, including American fighters. We also went next door to Space Museum where there were some wonderful exhibits and super enlarged photographs of manned Space Flights. It was very interesting.

Regards,

Tony

Don't worry, if I go back (I've had 2 x one month holidays in the PNW - in 2009 and 2011), I'll look you up. I quite like it up there although, after a while, I found the tall dark pine trees along the roadside along with grey sky to be quite depressing. I liked the openness over the other side of the Cascades.
