I wasnīt aware of a thread like this untill now !
Well, better late than never...
Enclosed a couple of pictures from Helsinki air show last August.
The helicopter in the first picture is one of the first NH-90īs to enter full service. As some of you may know, finalizing the project has taken some time. The aircraft in the second picture is a Finnish Air Force F/A-18 Hornet, the third one is one the few DC-6īs still flying. In the fourth picture there is a formation of Finnish Air Force BaE Hawks, and the fifth one is a vintage DC-3 taxiing for take-off.
For the Hornet and the DC-6 I used a Sigma 500/4,5 lens, all the other ones were shot with a Sigma 300/2,8

How do those propellers work on the DC3 given the pitch? Seems like they'd just paddle the air. Does the pitch turn near 90 degrees when the engines operate?

Not 90 deg, but they are variable pitch propellers. That way, if an engine goes out in flight, you can feather the prop so it will provide less drag. It also provides a way of getting "reverse" thrust.

To continue along a theme Andres made mention of, guess what it is about "engines running" shots that I love...

...what could it be?

Andres, that shot with the K10D hanging out is exceptional. What lens? Great color & sharpness.

O yes that DC# TP (Turbo prop) is a radical one. This conversion was done here in South Africa and is an South African Airforce conversion. Still a great plane.

The lens was the GREAT 18-55 (the old version) with a cheap old "Cozo" polarizing filter... This Kit zoom at F8 is SHARP! at least my copy

Nice shots yours too! I want to be that close to a F16 too!
