I suppose some of us just have that skill in catching "the defining moment"! ;-)

I was out at the Commemorative Air Force (Arizona Wing) in Mesa, AZ last Thursday. Their B-17G was just pulled out of maintenance that morning and we got to see her up close. I got some good pictures and took a few videos of engine start, taxiing and takeoff from which I'll post some stills later. For now, here are 4 pics of "Sentimental Journey" sitting out in the hot Arizona sunlight while museum personnel get her ready for her first post-maintenance flight. All taken with my K-3II and HD DA 16-85mm.

As promised, some more from my visit to the Commemorative Air Force museum in Mesa, AZ. The first two are stills from a video of the first engine start and run-up for "Sentimental Journey" following maintenance. The next two were taken as she taxied out for her first post-maintenance take off, and the final shot is another still from a video of her as she flew overhead following take off. As before, all taken with my K-3II and HD DA 16-85mm lens.

I saw that airplane back in 1986, at Paine Field, in Everett, Washington.

Lynnwood Rotary Airshow, Paine Field 1986.

Shot on Kodachrome, with a Ricoh XR2S, with a Pentax M40-80mm zoom lens.

Hi, Racer,

Looks like she's been buffed to a brilliant shine, as well as having her engines catered to!

For sure. Looks like it has been well cared for over the last 33 years.

Here is a 1969 Bleck Special at a recent fly-in breakfast held by EAA Chapter 1093 at Barstow Airport in Midland, Michigan. On the grass behind the Bleck Special is a 146 Ercoupe. The camera is a Pentax K-S2.

Nice one. Now one can see why a wheel well fire can be devastating, especially when the tire explodes.

Was looking through some shots of the Torbay Airshow from a couple of years ago thinking about whether I could justify buying a new lens for this year*, and decided to reprocess this one.

*Nope, decided I can't justify a new lens for the one time each year I'll probably use it.
