All PT-6 type engines start and are shut down in feather. Yes, they do paddle the air on startup. But, the pilot then puts them in "Ground-Fine" when idling which is a very flat pitch.

There are not many planes close to the ground here. This one is closer than most get. That famous Canadian bush plane a Dehaviland Turbo-Beaver.

I wanted some pictures of one of Ontario's air evac helicopter so I went over to the pad in Whitney after the copter flew over my house.
Landing dust rises above the trees, from our porch.
