post your shots of the airplanes

I tried out a brand N D7100 and Sigma 100-300 f/4 the other day. My take is I'll keep the K-3 but I wish that Sigma had made the 100-300 with HSM for the K mount.

Spent some more time at the airport this morning. K-3 and DA* 50-135 + Kenko 1.5x TC. Shooting at 1/180s to get maximum propeller blur but I get a lot of airplane blur too so the keeper rate is only ~ 5% if I'm lucky.

Beechcraft Baron, BE55.

Cessna 421, C421.

Cape Air 804, Cessna 402, KAP804, C402.

Good pictures. In my view, propeller blur take a second seat to a crisp image. For a telephoto, 180/sec is pushing the limits, as you explain.

well, there are three 'lucky' shots.

Well done. My shots of helicopters a few pages back look a bit unnatural with rotors almost stationary!
Sharp planes, blurred screws, good job.

Thanks guys. Yep, you're right that the subject be sharp first and 1/180 is pretty slow but it sure looks good when it all comes together.

Some images of Uncle Charlies, a landmark just south of Johannesburg. Originally it had another aircraft, but the military decided they needed it, and removed it, replacing it with this one. Have no idea what it is, so any help on that score will be appreciated. One image I am posting twice, one duly processed with the vignetting removed, the other with it remaining, giving a binocular view, and the impression that it was shot with the moon as background.
