I didn't know there'd be an airshow going on that day, so I was unprepared... only had my M50 on my camera, but I did come away with a couple shots worth keeping.

You could make a dramatic crop if you just showed the smoke trail from the sun, cropping the left and bottom.

That would be worth trying!

At that distance it looks like a Cessna 150/152. Nice shot.

Tkanks wtlwdwgn, my intention was to get even more blur though all the 1/80 and 1/100 photos were not as sharp :-/

You did fine with the rotor blur. I TRY to do it at 1/125 but I don't get as many keepers. It's worth trying though and feels good when it works.

It looks like we have similar expectations and experience Good to hear 1/125 works for you -> I will give it a try next time!

Spent a nice couple of days lurking near RAF Fairford, despite the "changeable" weather (English summer hey ho) got some nice shots. Whilst we are back home for a pit stop, battery recharge and a curry here's a taster.

On base tomorrow so a nice 5am start beckons.

Vespa, love the prop blur on the A400M.

BOE002 (Boeing Test Flight 2), B738 (Boeing 737-800 Max), KBFI-KBIL (Boeing Field Seattle to Billings, MT), on final RY 28L (runway 28 left). K-1 and Sigma 150-500 Bigmos.

BOE002, B738, KBIL-KRAP (Rapid City, SD), departing RY 28L.

That 737 has advanced a long way from its original plan of some 60 passengers and short haul. It grew to not only eclipse the 727, but also the original 707 mainliner. It appears to me that this is now the replacement for the 757 as well. This is truly a good example of evolution, rather than the revolution of the 787. Without the huge advances in engine power and economy this would not have been possible.

As an example, this DC8 belonged to the company I flew for. It was the first and only subsonic airliner to break the sound barrier, before the supersonics arrived. It had four Rolls Royce Conway engines of 20000lbs thrust each. They were noisy and inefficient. If we had to fly 4000 feet lower than planned, fuel consumption went up 5%. Now one engine on the 777 puts out what the four Conways did. However, you won't see one break the sound barrier any time soon. Google DC8 supersonic.
